The bschutter story is two seasons long and ends like a heist movie. Season one: a nondescript 7-7, playoff exit, nothing to see here. Season two: an 8-6 record from the five seed, quietly built on a draft that included Amon-Ra St. Brown in the eighth round the year prior — and then the most ruthless playoff run this league has ever witnessed. He won his three postseason games by 21, by 34, and by 53. The Finals against 12-2 Kebz weren't a game; they were a 163.0–109.7 sentencing. Each round he won bigger, like a man accelerating toward the exit.

Because that's exactly what he was doing. Championship secured, bschutter left the league and never returned. No title defense, no victory lap, no chance for anyone to take revenge. He remains the only manager in Goodfellas history to retire as champion — undefeated in the playoffs from that day to the end of time, a closing statistic no active manager can ever touch. kkissel2121 and mattbohall, both 0-2 against him lifetime, are owed rematches that will never come.

He did all of this, it must be noted, with a team named "Matt's Gay," which means the 2023 championship banner is technically inscribed with a personal attack on mattbohall — a man who has never made the playoffs and now must also live with that. The Ghost took the belt, took the last word, and walked into the sea. Hate the ending all you want. It's the only perfect exit in league history.
